Venelestis Naturalis Lenormand is a natural Lenormand oracle deck adhering to the traditional Lenormand system, including 36 numbered and titled cards.
Where traditional Lenormand decks feature a combination of natural elements, man made objects, and human figures, the Venelestis Lenormand keeps to the spirit and philosophy of the previous Venelestis decks by including only natural elements such as plants, insects, animals, and fungi. Examples include Whipvine instead of Whip, and a Praying mantis in place of the Scythe.
In addition, each card carries the spirit of the other Venelestis decks by featuring the Latin name of the depicted species.
more detailed information about the deck can be found on its dedicated page.
Illustration Style
The illustrations featured in the Venelestis Lenormand are rendered in the style of naturalist plate illustration, maintaining the scientific and field guide aesthetic present throughout the Venelestis collection. Some of the species are depicted only in detail, such as a flower instead of the whole plant, rather than as traditional full body portraiture.
System and Reading Style
A guidebook is not included. The deck is intended to be used with the traditionally established meanings of the Lenormand system, and each species has been carefully chosen so that the symbolism of the title remains as close as possible to the archetypal Lenormand meanings.
The only notable change to the system, aside from the exclusion of man made objects, is the reinterpretation of the Fox card.
In this deck, the Fox is represented by a Venus flytrap rather than the traditional animal. This choice places the card more firmly within meanings of caution, awareness, and deception, while also reflecting themes of making ends meet, work, and survival.
Who This Deck Is For
This deck is a suitable entry point into natural divination for beginners, while also offering a refreshing perspective for experienced Lenormand readers.
For beginners, it teaches the skill of symbolic and associative reading through numbers, card titles, and the established Lenormand methods of card placement and combination. These skills can later be applied to readings with other Venelestis decks.
For experienced practitioners, this deck offers a new lens on a traditional system while still allowing for greater personal freedom in interpretation.
About Lenormand Readings
The Lenormand system is particularly well suited for readings concerning everyday life and practical matters. It requires little prior knowledge beyond basic familiarity with archetypal symbols, making it an accessible yet powerful tool for divination.

Venelestis Naturalis Lenormand • Traditional Lenormand Oracle System
Venelestis Botanical Oracle Decks are tools for divination through relationship.
They are designed for people who don’t want meanings handed to them, but who want to build a personal symbolic language through attention, observation, and repeated encounters. Rather than fixed interpretations, the cards invite you into an ongoing conversation with plants as living presences, shaped by your experiences, questions, memories, and environment.
These decks are for diviners, herbalists, occult practitioners, artists, researchers, and curious minds who trust that meaning emerges through practice, not instruction. They work equally well for beginners and experienced readers, because the system grows with you.
What makes these decks differentBotany as a shared language: Each card carries the internationally recognized Latin name of the plant. This grounds the deck in a neutral, cross-cultural reference point, not a predefined esoteric system, allowing meaning to arise through your own research and lived experiences.
Illustrations meant to be recognized: The artwork is inspired by traditional botanical illustration, prioritizing clarity and recognizability over abstraction. These are plants you can learn to notice in the world, not just symbols on paper.
Curated, not coded: Each deck contains 56 cards: 49 core species and 7 companion cards. They are not arranged into archetypes or hierarchies. Patterns, themes, and relationships emerge through use, and through the way you choose to work with them.
Crafted with care: Printed on FSC-certified matte cardstock and produced locally in the Czech Republic, each deck reflects an intentional approach to material quality, sustainability, and longevity.
