Let the magic do what it does. Happen.

Reading cards is magic.

"So you may have chosen to study Divination, the most difficult of all magical arts. I must warn you at the outset that if you do not have the Sight, there is very little I will be able to teach you. Books can take you only so far in this field…"

Divination of any kind, using cards, pendulum, tea leaves, or the leg bones of a camel, is an act of doing magic. Our mind, plagued with logic, discipline and the mundane world, is not capable of performing magic.

What you want, when trying to read the cards, is the cards to be your bridge to your subconscious and to make relevant bits and pieces come floating out and up into your mind. But what many are doing is that they use their mind and the cards as a fishing pole to selectively pull up things the mind deems relevant for whatever reason it might have.

That is not divination, it is psychology/psychotherapy. It has nothing to do with fortunetelling.

Educating ourselves and thereby our subconsciousness, is also the reason why we feel the need to learn the LWBs that come with our decks by heart. And when I say to forget the book and to forget the meanings of the cards once you pick them up, it doesn't mean they are not valuable and important. They are just not something that should occupy your mind at that moment. Everything you have ever heard, seen, read, felt, experienced is locked away safely in the subconscious. You don't need your mind to access it for you.

When you have stilled your thought and allowed a bridge to be built, the results you get are out of your deliberate control. The answers may come from your own higher self, or they can be someone elses message that is to be given a voice in a reading. It doesn't matter, whether it is that ripple from the future speaking, or a god or someones guardian angel. You are connected to a place of a higher truth. A shared consciousness of all there is. The universe.

Do you feel it yet? Good. Lets truly begin.

This state can be achieved in more advanced forms of meditation, almost trance like, in which prophecies can be given without the use of outside tools.

Tarot like any other oracle, is only a tool. Palms, tea leaves, crystal balls - all work on the same principle.

They serve to put us into a certain mind set. To leave our jobs, problems, lovers and friends behind in the mundane world and enter into the magical world where anything can happen and everything is true.

And believe me, this world is just waiting for you to knock on the door. And when you do, shit gets real and stuff happens. So next time, we will finally go into details and all the awesomeness one can do with Tarot cards once they are fed up with daily draws and Celtic crosses. Like (not in order of appearance) [Editing note from 2026: This series was never finished, so it does not include all of the following. I still however resonate with most of what I have written here and would like to continue this series in the future with bonus 12 years of experience.]:

  • The two ways of Tarot

  • Intuitive spreads

  • Shuffling techniques and what happens during

  • Types of decks and their relative best uses

  • Combining oracle systems

  • Communication with entities using Tarot

  • Tarot-guided meditations and meditation-guided Tarot

  • Spell casting using Tarot

Many of these require some kind or other of complementary work aside from cards, like the hundred times over repeated meditation, but also including and not limited to chakra control (which in turn requires removing of energy blockages -  and more meditation), some might be best tried either with company or a tape recorder (for record keeping - again, so you don't have to think), and others, like spell casting using Tarot, should remain theoretical, unless one is absolutely sure what they are doing.
